Most marketable skill for the future?

PictureStudents hear from a Ratheon Engineer about his career path.
Through the School to Career program students have many ways to explore careers:

*Credit earning Job Shadows connect students with area business members to learn directly about a career.

*The Work Experience program recognizes students’ employment experiences at work in the community. Students report weekly on their performance and earn credit each semester.

*The career center connects students to find job openings with local employers.  A bulletin board and live announcement board promote these opportunities. Employers needing help are encouraged to call or email with job openings.

*The Unpaid Experiential Learning Program (aka internship) is a long term experience for students. Internships can be as short as two weeks or an entire semester. Students work along side an employer learning the work expectations and education needed to choose this path. These opportunities are often what create stand out resumes for our Region 18 youth, cementing college acceptances and future job opportunities.

*Career speakers are also invited into the school to reach a larger audience. When possible these visits are presented in the classroom making connections between curriculum and careers

Additionally, students who receive support services in high school work with the transition program to put a good plan in place for their post secondary goals.  This includes all of the above as well as learning about their disability, learning to advocate, college expectations, work experiences and more.
