Community Service
Description: The Community Service Club is a student-centered group dedicated to service and benevolence in the Lyme-Old Lyme, and surrounding communities. Members participate in volunteer opportunities such as the Hartford Marathon water table, leaf-raking and environmental clean-up. The club conducts drives and fund-raising activities for worthy causes such as Safe Futures, and the New London Soup Kitchen. Students are encouraged to bring ideas and concerns to the group and develop initiatives with the greater good in mind.
How to get involved: Contact Mrs. Winski and attend a meeting if you are interested.
Meeting Time(s): First and Third Wednesday of the month - 7:15-7:35 am Year Round in the Library Media Center
Advisor: Mrs. Heather Fried and Mrs. Winski
Events: Members attend and/or participate in 3+ events per season (Fall, Winter, Spring). Examples of events include but are not limited to Leaf Raking, Hartford Marathon water station, annual Food and Coat Drive, and the Student-Staff Basketball game. These events are during the school year and are typically occur outside of the school day or on the weekend. Events may last anywhere from 2-6 hours.
Commitment/Expectations for attendance for meetings, practice(s), and/or event(s):
It is expected that each student will attend meetings; participate at meetings by generating ideas and developing projects; volunteer time at least three times per year.
