Description: DECA furthers the understanding of marketing and e-commerce. DECA is a local, state and national organization offering students workshops, competitions, and opportunities to see and use marketing and e-commerce in action.
How to get involved: Contact Dr. Hedwall and attend a meeting if you are interested.
Meeting Time(s): Watch for first meeting announcement where meeting time and days will be decided. Stop in to any meeting see what is going on.
Advisor: Dr. Joanne Hedwall
Events: Members discuss and plan the schedule. Planning includes attending conferences, visiting businesses, having speakers in, job shadowing, and working for/contributing to local organizations. Some events require a student to be absent for an entire school day. Students are highly encouraged to attend the State Leadership Conference in the Fall. Additionally, members of DECA also create, set up, and run a Student Store. The Student Store set up has 2 possible components- in school location or online.
Commitment/Expectations for attendance for meetings, practice(s), and/or event(s):
This club expects a minimal commitment from students (30 min - 1 hr/every other week). Students are encouraged to attend weekly meetings. Sign-in occurs at meetings. Officer meetings are held on a regular basis and will set the schedule for club meetings and events.
