Friday evening's Senior Winter Ball at Woodwinds in Branford was a HUGE SUCCESS! Kudos to the Senior Class Officers, the Ball Committee and Mr. Fisler for all of their hard work in planning and preparing for such a wonderful event. Between the delicious food, great DJ, the ice cream bar, and the entertaining Photo Booth... fun was had by all! Take a look at some of the photos. Ms. Baklik’s and Ms. Carbone’s Honors English 11 classes spent some time in the library last week reading, viewing, and listening to Harlem Renaissance works AND sipping some hot cocoa! Mrs. Trost and Mrs. Isaacson put together a comprehensive site covering everything from research on the background and span of the Harlem Renaissance movement through the art, music, poetry, and literature produced during the period. Images of artwork were featured on each of the tables with provoking questions to consider, and reference texts, collections of poetry, novels, and even children’s books covered the reference desk counter and tops of bookcases. Students could pursue any angle or perspective that intrigued them and will share their findings and connections to the two unit novels, Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God with their classes.
