Last Week's WLYM

Alec Russell's Eagle Project:

5/5/2019

Picture
In partnership with the Old Lyme Land Trust (OLLT), Alec started out with the idea to do something on the John Lohman Connecticut River Preserve. It has beautiful terraced fields, and a very majestic point that goes out into the river a little bit. These trails, according to Alec, needed a good spot to stop and admire the nature. Alec's project was to create a Reflection Area, a spot with a good seat, and a fantastic view where you can sit and close your eyes, and embrace the nature around you. Through many days of hard planning, and running all over Old Lyme, East Lyme, and Old Saybrook collecting donations from various businesses, namely Laysville Hardware and UBS, I gathered my volunteers and built the benches, as well as installed them, in 2 days. They should be there for decades to come, beckoning people to embrace the beauty that surrounds them in this world that moves way too fast.
                                Nice Work Alec!
