This week was filled with lots of spirit! On Wednesday we also held our first real class meetings. Each class held a different activity for the class to bond together. The seniors took their annual class photo and enjoyed some treats after, the junior class went out to the track to play flag football and yard games along with some fall treats, the sophomore class was in the gym enjoying several games of Dodge Ball, and the freshman class played all sorts of table games in the library.
On Friday evening the Commons was set up for another wonderful Homecoming Dance. The rain held out this year so the Pizza Truck and the DJ were able to be outside in the courtyard. Fun was had by all! And then to top it off, we had our only Homecoming game on Saturday! ECOS stewards teamed up with Old Lyme Land Trust for trail maintenance at Hoffman-Matthaisen-DeGerandy Preserve. Thanks to John from OLLT for sharing a brief history of the preserve! Nice Work Wildcats!Once again, the HS volleyball team is hosting a Dig Pink match to raise money for the

T-shirts are on sale for $20 as well as baked goods and concessions at the match. Checks payable to Yale New Haven Hospital. Model UN is off to a great start. Students are researching a country for 30 minutes and discussing politics, economics and social issues in that country.
Hello Wildcats!
October is an exciting month here in the cafeteria! It is National Farm to School Month! We have some fun activities and menu offerings planned to celebrate and to get students excited about supporting our local farms and knowing where the food they eat comes from. October 7-11 is CT grown for CT kids week. We will be offering students a variety of locally grown foods, homemade muffins made from locally grown fruits and vegetables, and offering samples of foods for them to try. There will be coloring pages, posters and information about the local farms who grow our fruits and vegetables and even a few giveaways! October 15, Lyme School will be having a special event with Farmer Matt during lunch. He is a CT farmer who’s produce is distributed through Sardilli, our produce supplier. Sardilli works with a number of CT farms to provide fresh local produce to schools, restaurants, and others throughout the state. Their website has information about these farms and what local produce is available for each season. Farmer Matt will be hosting an apple tasting for students where they will be able to sample 4 or 5 varieties of locally grown apples and then vote on their favorite. He will be able to talk with the students about farming, locally grown foods, and answer questions. Many of the farms in Connecticut offer farm visits, field trips, and even birthday parties! We encourage families to visit local farms with their children. Whether you go apple picking, pumpkin picking, berry picking, or just want to visit for the scenery or farm stand offerings, visiting local farms helps students to connect with where the food they eat comes from and encourages them to try foods they might otherwise not be interested in. LOLHS XC volunteers turned up, despite wet weather and late notice, for the Bound for the Sound 5k and 10k in Old Lyme on Saturday. WAY TO GO WILDCATS!On Friday, as advertised last week, LOLHS students showed their Wildcat Pride by were BLUE! During homeroom, students and staff congregated on the middle field to take a photo! It was a great opportunity to get ready for SPIRIT WEEK this week!!! EIghth grade students in Mr. Raucci's class came over to the HS to explore how architects account for light (sun) and its impact when planning for a new building. Jesse will be holding workshops for the junior class in the Spring prior to the SAT testing date in March.
On Thursday during both lunches, Student Council students held their second Newcomers Pizza Lunch. We were happy to see some different faces. We will be holding another in a couple of weeks.

We have The Unified Sports team went crabbing at Bluff Point State Park! Not sure what unified sports is? Unified Sports is a seasonal sport group that joins people with and without disabilities on the same team. The sky is the limit with this group and no athletic capabilities are required! We practice Tuesdays after school from 2:30 - 3:30 and meet for events on Thursdays (typically 2:30-4:00).
