Wildcat Wellness Day 2021
In about one week, on October 20th, LOLHS students and staff will be putting down their books at 11:30 to attend 3 different 40 minute workshops that they selected this week. The goal of the day is to foster and encourage a more balanced and healthier life style by learning techniques and tools that will help in this endeavor. This year, thanks to the generosity, effort and willingness to volunteer time and expertise , we have 30 workshops to offer. Take a look at the incredible selection of workshops:

SENIORS DO NOT ATTEND SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY!!!
This past week, LOLHS truly revealed their Wildcat Pride. Students, faculty and staff dressed up each day and then on Thursday, we celebrated our first fall spirit rally outside! Fun and laughs were had by all!
A special thanks goes out to our Student Leaders and their advisors (Mrs. Todd, Ms. Macione and Mr. Kaczor) for making this week such a success.
WELL DONE WILDCATS!
Academic Letter Ceremony
On Thursday, October 7th, seniors celebrated the first of this year's "Senior Celebrations" with the Annual Academic Letter Ceremony outside on our Middle Field. The letter is presented to all seniors who have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 90 or better after six semesters of hard work. Mrs. Cox was the faculty guest speaker, and Felse Kyle, was the student speaker. Both gave heartfelt speeches congratulating the class for all of their hard work and accomplishments. After the morning ceremony, students and parents enjoyed a small outdoor reception.
CONGRATULATIONS to all

Tools to Support Authentic Work:
Last Wednesday in Advisory students discussed the topic of plagiarism. As stated by Mr. Wygonik, plagiarism is about more than copying and pasting. It is about honesty, responsibility, trust, and personal integrity. LOLHS Wildcats are expected to exhibit these traits at all times.
In order to aid students in producing and turning in their best and most authentic work, students are being introduced to the features of Turnitin Draft Coach product in their social studies courses and in HS 101.
All students have access to a new tool within GoogleDocs, Turnitin Draft coach.
Draft coach is Google Add-on in Google Docs which empowers students to turn in their best work. Within Draft Coach, there are three tools, a Similarity Check, a Citations Check, and a Grammar Guide.
For More Information, watch : Meet Turnitin Draft Coach™ | Turnitin or learn more about Draft Caoch product features here: Draft Coach Product Features

Spanish National Honor Society Update:
Hola from Willa Hoerauf, Grace Colwell and Izzy Reynolds from Spanish Honors Society!
National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15th to October 15th this year. This month celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Hispanic or Latin American countries. These next few days, we will be informing you about important Hispanic-American and Latin-American people from different backgrounds who have impacted our current American society.
To start off; What is the difference between Hispanic and Latinx?
Hispanic refers to people from spanish-speaking countries or people with spanish-speaking descendants. This can include people from Spain and certain South American countries. Latinx, however, specifically focuses on people from or descending from spanish-speaking countries in Latin America. This does not include Spain and Portugal, because they are in Europe. There’s a distinction because many people believe that the term Hispanic reasserts a relationship between conquered South American countries and their conquerors, Spain and Portugal.
Next Week is PSAT Day!
All 9,10 and 11th Grade students will be participating in the PSATs. Seniors will not be required to come in until 12:45 for last period of the day.
ATTENTION: OCTOBER 13 WILL BE AN A DAY - SENIORS WILL NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL THAT DAY.
