On Wednesday morning eleven regional schools convened at LOLHS to celebrate and honor the Shoreline Social Studies Award recipients. Chief Justice of the CT Supreme Court (Ret) Honorable Chase Rogers and Devin Carney, our State Representative, were the guest speakers. Both speakers encouraged the students to follow their passions and truth but also to use their critical thinking skills to reach the truth. LOLHS is proud to present the Shoreline Excellence in Social Studies Award to Siman Karpinski. This award is presented to "a junior who demonstrates a high degree of interest and enthusiasm for social studies and who possesses a high level of ability, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding of the subject." Simon has achieved outstanding excellence in social studies for the past three years as well as shown his passion for the subject and leadership skills in various situations both in the classroom and out. He has been a long standing member and leader on our Mock Trial Team, a member of the CT Geography Challenge, and Vice President of the Class of 2025..to name a few.
