On Friday, January 28th the indoor track team traveled to HillHouse High School to compete in the Shoreline Coaches Invite. The invite had over 25 teams composed of Class S and Class M schools. Congrats to all athletes and a special congrats to the athletes that medaled: Aggie Hunt, Maddy Morgado, Olivia Powers, Gillian Milewski, Marco Supersano, Hannah Britt, Livie Bass and Callie Bass. We would like to recognize and celebrate our seniors who signed their Committment Letters for their respective schools and sports. CONGRATULATIONS TO
Victoria Stout who signed with Marist College for Crew and McLean Signora who signed with Sacred Heart University for Crew Riley Wareke who signed with Johnson and Wales for Baseball WAY TO GO WILDCATS! On Thursday this week, members of the Student Advisory Council (SAC) joined myself and Mrs. Molnar during our second session of "High School Here We Come!". SAC students answered various questions based on the Jeopardy game that we played with the eighth grade students. Students were able to gain a better understanding of various topics related to high school such as time management, homework expectations, study halls, elective courses, attendance, credits, dances, clubs and sports, etc. All this was to prepare them for February 17th when they will meet the HS Counselors and recieve their course selection sheets and later that night ... join us at the 8th Grade Student/Parent Night at 6:30 at LOLHS. Congratulations to Jack Conley. Jack, currently enrolled in AP Chinese, has applied and was admitted to UCONN's Startalk Language Program in Mandarin Chinese. Startalk is a full year culture and language immersion program accomplished through gaming and storytelling. The themes of storytelling and gaming are used to engage students in a highly motivated learning experience and allows students to explore their own interests and self-understandings within a framework of cultural comparison and deepening cross-cultural competence while completing a series of exciting, creative projects. Best wishes to Jack at the StarTalk! Debbie Berndt has been collaborating with the LOLPC and School Athletic Program to bring cutting edge education and support to athletes, parents, and coaches. She is the Executive Director of Parent Movement 2.0, Substance Free Athletics, and the host of the new SAMHSA Podcast- What Parents Are Saying. It was a pleasure chatting with Debbie about marijuana, other drugs, and our kids- I encourage you to check it out!

Team 236-TechnoTicks met in a hybrid model this Saturday for the Kickoff of the 2022 FIRST Robotics Season. The team is looking forward to building a robot again, after working remotely on a Cube Satellite project last year, after the regular season was cancelled due to Covid. Students and mentors met in the Media Center, wearing masks, and were joined via Zoom by those who were unable to attend in person. The Kickoff was very exciting, with videos previewing this season’s game theme, playing field, rulebook, and kit of parts. The 2022 theme is “Rapid React”. Watch the game animation below!
