On Friday Oct 29, Student Leaders sponsored a Halloween Costume Contest. Thank you to our teacher voting panel and bravo to our students for their creativity and humor!

Class of 2024 Fun Fall Fest!

10/30/2021

The Class of 2024 enjoyed a fun Fall Festival on Thursday.  The highlight of the evening was a raucous Cake Walk organized by parent Dottie Wells.  Students also loved carving and painting pumpkins, playing badminton and ping pong, and watching the movie Coraline.  Pizza, popcorn, and drinks were enjoyed by all.  It was great to spend time playing and laughing together.

Mole Day for Chemistry Students

10/30/2021

Chemistry students celebrate "The Mole" every year on (or around) October 23.  This year's Mole Day theme was "Hamoleton"  (from the play Hamilton).  The kids have to make an original, theme-based project.

(A mole is equal to 6.02 X 1023 and is important in our chemistry conversions throughout the year.)

Take a look at some of the creative representations:

Wildcat Wellness - 2021

10/24/2021

On Wednesday LOLHS, Wellness Day proved to be quite a success. After the academic classes finished at 11:24, students and staff selected from a myriad of  workshops - each, in their own way, having a focus on health and wellness. Participants came away with at least one strategy that can be used on a daily basis... whether it was learning how to create with food, movements or sounds, all participants were challenged to take the time to think about how we can be more mindful of our health and wellness. There were 30 workshops in which to participate. Take a look at some pictures of students and staff in action along with the workshop list and presenters. It was an incredible day full of great energy and enthusiasm that was made possible because of the efforts and expertise of various community members.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR PRESENTERS!
Without your time and efforts, Wildcat Wellness Day would not have been such a success!

Rotary Student of the Month

10/24/2021

Congratulations to Will Larson who was selected as the Rotary English Student of the Month! He is not only a gifted English student, but he also embodies all the best characteristics of a Lyme-Old Lyme High School leader. In addition to English, Will has earned academic awards in US History, European History, and World Language. He is an active member of the Mock Trial Team, the High School Bowl Team, and the Athletic Leadership Council. He is also a captain of the Varsity Soccer Team, a member of the Varsity Crew team, and is part of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. Will was Lyme-Old Lyme's representative to the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Council, and somehow, he also found time to earn his Eagle Scout Award by giving back to his church community and building an outdoor chapel for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook. Will is so deserving of this honor.

WELL DONE WILL!

Robotics Update...Bash @ the Beach 2021!:

10/24/2021

Seventeen FIRST Robotics teams met at Lyme-Old Lyme High School’s “Bash at the Beach” off-season event yesterday. Competition was fierce but friendly, with teams getting the chance to break out their 2019 robots, recruit new drivers,  and re-play the “Infinite Recharge” game theme. This year’s Bash was especially poignant, because the 2019 season was cut short due to COVID 19, and the 2020 season was a virtual challenge, without robots. Everyone was thrilled to be back, seeing old friends and making new ones. Thanks to our co-hosts #1740 Ledyard Cyber Colonels, #2067 Apple Pi, and all of the volunteers and mentors from Lyme-Old Lyme’s Team 236 TechnoTicks for ensuring that the event ran smoothly and a good time was had by all!
