It was a great event on Thursday evening at Langley's Restaurant in Waterford. It was a celebration of the class of 2022 as they prepare to step on the stage for their diplomas. Students shared an evening filled with memories which began with a wonderful slideshow produced by Olivia Turtoro, the class historian. The presentation included not only their 4 year history at LOLHS but also many of their childhood moments that they shared together. The seniors were also treated to a letter that they wrote themselves in middle school with Mrs. Glorioso. The finale was the distribution of yearbooks! It was a wonderful evening! This past week, LOLHS' Student Leaders sponsored our Spring Spirit Week full of Wildcat Pride culminating with Field Day on Thursday. We followed the half day schedule and at 11:15, the entire school enjoyed a wonderful BBQ lunch prepared by our amazing kitchen staff. No matter where you were, students and faculty were having fun whether it was listening to our senior live band perform, eating unlimitted ice cream, playing kickball, wiffle ball, ping pong, or basketball, challenging themselves to trivia or singing to Karaoke, relaxing on the field, playing yard games, frisbee, or participating in one of the 5 different wellness booths sponsored by LYSB. The choices were seemingly endless. LYSB and VNA also sponsored our Alumn Emma Boardmand, serving up Del's Lemonade all afternoon! The weather was perfect and with all the activities, it made for a wonderful, fun packed afternoon! It was a really great way to welcome in summer, enjoy each other's company outside of the classroom, and relax just a bit before we begin to wrap up the end of the year and prepare for exams. Special thanks goes to LOLHS Student Leaders and the Advisors: Mrs. Todd, Ms Macione and Mr. Kaczor for planning this event with such detail. Well Done Wildcats!Andrea Competes in the Olympics!

This week in Chemistry class students blew up water! The goal was to reach the triple point of dry ice (solid carbon dioxide). The triple point is reached when all three phases of matter (solid, liquid, gas) exist at the same time. The phase of matter is determined by a combination of temperature and pressure. The kids increased the pressure by sealing a plastic pipet that contained dry ice. They could tell when the triple point was reached because they could see the solid melting at the same time that the liquid was boiling. Cool. If they don't release the pressure it will increase to the point of exploding the pipet. Fun. (The activity is done in a cup of water to contain any shards of plastic that may occur but it also helps to see inside the action inside the pipet as well.)
