Friday night's Senior Ball was a huge success! The venue, Bill Miller's Castle, was absolutely magnificent with beautiful holiday decorations and fireplaces roaring. The DJ had the whole place dancing and the food was great. Fun was had by all. Thank you to Mrs. Winski and Mrs. Hylas and the Senior Class Officers for putting on such a wonderful event! The Art Department of Lyme-Old Lyme High School is proud to announce that five of our students were recognized at this year’s Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards. Senior Grace Phaneuf deserves special mention for receiving a Gold Key for her portfolio, “In Stasis.” Grace’s portfolio will go on to be juried at the national level. Seniors Sedona Holland and Adam Damiano both earned Honorable Mention for their portfolios. Adam’s individual entry in Drawing also took a Silver Key, while Sedona took a second Honorable Mention for an individual work of Photography. Other accepted students include Sophomore Anna Goldfarb and Junior Janna Graves, who were awarded Honorable Mentions in Ceramics and Drawing respectively. Listed works are hanging at the Silpe Gallery at the University of Hartford through February 2, with an awards celebration scheduled for Sunday, January 28. Congratulations to all who participated! For the month of December, the Spanish Honor Society adopted a family in coordination with the Youth Leadership Council at the LYSB for the holidays. The family had a boy, age 3, who wanted various items for Christmas that the members of the Spanish Honor Society were able to chip in and get. This included a Lincoln logs set, a Sports Illustrated Big Book of Why, various clothes, and some gift cards as well pictured below. It was a good feeling for the club knowing that they were able to help out a family over the holidays and have a kid be able to wake up to some presents on Christmas.
