On Thursday, Hayden Grethel and Mr. Tyrol were presented with a wonderful surprise from Kozlowski Orthodontics. Hayden nominated Mr. Tyrol for being his Unified Sports Team coach and mentor over the past year. We surprised Hayden in his Chemistry Class and then Hayden presented the award and his framed letter to Mr. Tyrol. Kozlowski Orthodontics awarded both Hayden and Mr. Tyrol with generous gifts. It certainly put a BIG SMILE on everyone!

LOLHS would like to recognize and congratulate the Class of 2023's Top students: Mari Mather is this year’s Valedictorian, Anna Davis is the Salutatorian, and Harry Whitten is the Honor Essayist WELL DONE WILDCATS!At this week's Board of Education meeting, Connecticut Assoc. of Schools presented LYSB with The 2022-23 Distinguished Friend of Education Award. Below are the remarks shared by Noah Ventola expressing how grateful we are to have LYSB as a community partner: "We just want to say thank you to LYSB for all that you do for Lyme-Old Lyme students and families. The list of ways that you support our students is long. From holiday giving, to the mentor program, to prevention work, all of you spend a tremendous amount of time supporting our school community. LYSB also works with all the schools to develop creative and effective responses to issues we face. You help us with the HTTP and Me program, provide funding to bring in speakers on social media, provide scholarships to students for summer camp, to name a few. LYSB supports and champions programming targeted to support the social and emotional wellness of students, and LYSB finds creative and non-traditional ways to support students and families when they are struggling. But your support of our school system goes well beyond the tangible programs that you run. You serve as a resource for local knowledge and you provide creative ideas to help us support and meet the needs of our students AND families. All of you are always ready to lend a helping hand. If one of the administrative team has an idea of a program to implement or if we know there is a family in need of support, we know where to turn. You are ready to provide honest and constructive feedback, and are always ready and willing to help us meet the needs of our community. Words and thank you's cannot describe the positive impact that you have on our community; therefore, we felt compelled to nominate you for this award. Clearly the selection committee recognizes the positive impact of your work. Congratulations on being named the 2022-23 Connecticut Association of Schools Distinguished Friend of Education."
