2017 CABE Student Leaders

Congratulations to Callie Kotzan and Danny Cole for being selected as this year's Connecticut Association of Boards of Education Student Leaders. Callie "is a cheerful ray of sunshine, one who is full of energy and optimism. This enthusiasm is apparent in her many roles [...] she is truly a positive force who can make anything possible."  Danny has "an unprecedented motivation to accomplish his goals. [...] He is a positive, altruistic, gentleman and a stellar example of a LOLHS student. Mr. Wygonik presented the students with their award at last week's Board of Education meeting. Both of these students are so deserving of this award... WELL DONE CALLIE AND DANNY!

Danny Cole is an energetic young man with a gigantic smile and an unprecedented motivation to accomplish his goals. Academically, he has taken a challenging curriculum of Advanced Placement and Honors courses. His hard work has earned him membership in the National Honor Society and accolades including the Gettysburg College Book Award, National Association of Secondary Principals Award, and the LOLHS Academic Letter Award. It is obvious from Dan’s achievement that he is a bright, driven and competitive student who will excel at whatever he takes on next.
 
Within Lyme-Old Lyme High School, Dan is an accomplished athlete on the soccer and indoor and outdoor track teams, Co-President of the History Local Club, a member of the prom and senior ball committees as well as the Vice President of the Concert Choir. Dan is also a talented member of our coveted Select Singers Ensemble. Within his athletic pursuits, he has poured his heart and soul into cultivating a team atmosphere that is encouraging and supportive. While within his community endeavors he recognizes there are times when the right thing to do is to put others first.  Daniel Cole is a positive, altruistic, gentleman, and a stellar example of a LOLHS student who is a worthy recipient of this recognition.
