To: Parents and Guardians of Lyme-Old Lyme Students
From: Holly McCalla, Business Manager Date: February 16, 2023 RE: Free lunch legislation This week, Governor Lamont signed legislation allocating an additional $60 Million toward free meals for Connecticut’s school children. If you recall, breakfast and lunch were free at the beginning of this year, but funding was exhausted in early December. At this time, schools are awaiting the guidelines from the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) as to how this additional funding is to be appropriately utilized. Once this guidance is issued, the district will implement the program and communication will be sent to all families. What we do know, however, is that there will not be retroactive payment of past due balances on lunch accounts; therefore, please ensure your child has a positive or $0 balance on his/her lunch account at all times. Please let me know if you have any questions. Comments are closed.
