![]() In honor of National Poetry Month, we thought it appropriate to share a poem written by Nate Ramella. Following the poem, his comments on his poem is so reflective of this time. Very insightful! Nice work Nate! Woodland Home Here I sit among a woodland home At first glance it seems uncombed Random sounds and bird call tones But listen carefully, a story’s told Every root and every leaf Every “thing” has a purpose One common goal, all ends meet Most see a mess, I see a team We need change, but lack the courage In these woods, death fuels life Who do we trust? A caring mother In the darkness she finds light We’re all asleep, first is fight Second is each other Sharing all life’s needs Yet still the champion Mother Nature is a queen Lessons to be learned in these leaves of green But not by simply glancing I wrote this because Mother Nature is our greatest teacher. She has valuable lessons that can be applied to most situations in life. This particular lesson pertains to the need for humanity to stop fighting and work together towards a common goal. We tend to fight first when we disagree (even I do) but we have to work out differences and accept that the common goal of living in harmony is bigger than any conflict. The last stanza means that the root of every problem goes deeper than we realize. We can’t fix problems by impulsively reacting and pointing fingers, we need to dig deep and find the tip of the root of the problem so it can be analyzed and resolved. During this pandemic society has come together and I think this is mother nature’s way of finally showing Man, in a way we understand, how to work together and overcome obstacles.
