  By LOLHS Spanish Honors Society National Spanish Honors Society has undertaken research regarding the diversity of the student population and language diversity within the school. The National Spanish Honors Society has found out that although Lyme-Old Lyme High School is not racially diverse, the school is incredibly ethnically diverse and especially diverse when it comes to language. Besides offering 4 different languages in person (including Spanish, French, Chinese, and Latin), LOLHS offers a multitude of different languages through Virtual High School (VHS). Language opportunities online include courses in Italian, German, Russian, etc. While one might initially brush off the benefit of learning a foreign language out of convenience, language improves cognitive capabilities as well as opening a wider world of opportunities for the beneficiary.
