This past spring, we introduced Canvas, a Learning Management System to our teachers in grades 6 to 12. This web based program provides a single on-line location where students can ultimately access resources from all their courses. With the start of the second semester, teachers will begin using Canvas to communicate important dates as well as key course documents. While this system has the capability to enable students to complete assignments, take quizzes, collaborate and communicate with other students and their teachers, participate in on-line classroom discussions and manage all their activities and due dates, we will not be utilizing all aspects of this robust program school wide at this time. Some teachers may begin to experiment with some of these features, it is not the expectation that teachers will be fully utilizing the Canvas platform this year. Based on the initial response from teachers and students, we anticipate Canvas will become a very important communication and collaboration tool over the next few years and will prepare our students for this 21st Century learning model. We welcome your feedback as we launch this next phase of our student digital learning experience.
