This is from André Salkin, our Latino local leader
Today I brought a three kings bread, or Rosca de Reyes to celebrate Epiphany with Mr. Vazquez's period 6 ECE Spanish class. Epiphany is a commonly celebrated holiday in Hispanic communities. It commemorates the visit of the three kings to Jesus Christ. The class enjoyed the uniqueness of the cake and two students found the hidden baby figure in their slice, bidding them good luck for the new year. My mother and I got the cake at La Flor de Jalisco Bakery in Portchester, New York, a legendary bakery serving the NY Mexican community. This picture shows Las Roscas de Reyes stacked to the ceiling in the iconic bakery. Comments are closed.
