Chemistry classes held a Town Council meeting about a fish kill in a local river. Based on data that the kids analyze they have to make a claim as to what killed fish (according to the role they are playing), cite evidence to back up their claim, decide who is responsible for it and what should be done about it. Nick White was the major and was in charge of running the meeting. Due to the high levels of nitrate and phosphate found in the river it was decided that the farmers were responsible because of their use of fertilizers. Comments are closed.
