The Chinese I class is learning all about Chinese calligraphy - its cultural value and historical significance in the Chinese society; they are also becoming experts in understanding and deciphering the five different styles of calligraphy; as well, they are practicing this ancient form of writing that's not only known for its artistic value, but more importantly, for its communicative functions in language learning and its real-life applications, such as its wide use in commercial signs. It's a great practice of patience, concentration, and self-awareness from a cultural perspective and everyone really enjoys it.
