Israeli Young Emissaries, part of the Federation funded Partnership2gether program of the Jewish Agency for Israel, were guest speakers at Lyme-Old Lyme High School on Wednesday, December 20th. Instead of entering the Israel Defense Forces immediately after high school, Israeli Young Emissaries defer their army service for a year, and go through an intense year-long training process in order to perform a year of service in Jewish communities across the United States. The Emissaries are trained as experiential, hands-on educators, working toward creating meaningful connections and living bridges between their partnership community in the US and Israel.
Ziv Lavi and Sivan Gvili spoke to the Global Issues class about Israeli life and culture. The class even got a taste of the biggest pop music hits in Israel. It was very informative and now the class knows the proper way to pronounce the word "hummus". "Toda" (thank you) to Ziv and Sivan! Comments are closed.
