Ms. Jacqueline Piccolo, high school Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal, visited Personal and Consumer Law class to talk about her recent experience with Jury Duty for the Federal Court System in New Haven. She walked the students through the process and showed samples of the documents she was sent to complete. She told the students how the jury pool was narrowed down for 200 to 16, how all of the people called agreed to serve, how they were all called before the judge, the defendants, and the plaintiffs to answer qualifying questions, and that all the jurors were willing to serve without exception. Ms. Piccolo told the students that her case pled out before it went to trial but she would have been willing to go had it not been. She encouraged students that should they get a chance to serve on a jury, they should because it was a great experience to see the court system in action. Comments are closed.
