LOLHS' Mock Trial Team Propels into the Top 7 schools in the State!

On Friday, February 8th, the Mock Trial team traveled to Quinnipiac Law School for the Civics First Mock Trial Quarter Finals competition. The first trial saw the LOLHS Defense team compete and win against Valley-Regional’s Plaintiff team.  This was a milestone for the team as they then advanced farther than they have in the past.  The afternoon trial saw the LOLHS Plaintiff team compete and win against Crosby High School’s Defense team.  This propels LOLHS into the top 7 schools in the State.  Those schools include: Westhill, Kings-Oxford, Weston, West Haven, Fairfield Ludlowe, and Trumbull.  The date of the next round is being determined but the LOLHS Defense team will compete against Weston High School, last year’s state runner-up.  The LOLHS Defense team consists of: Captain Kellie Sablone, Conner Wyman, Sarah Hayward, Jack Manthous, Kate Cheney, and Ava Berry.  The LOLHS Mock Trial program is led by teacher Sarah Hylas.  Local attorneys Rob Stiles, Russ Bowman, and Fran Sablone assist in teaching the students legal procedure.
