Students in APUSH braved the cold and ice to get a first-hand look of the Florence Griswold Museum’s new exhibit “Great Americans” by Jac Lahav. Students were able to examine the 30 life size portraits of various Americans, both living and deceased. From Washington to Lincoln to Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Jac Lahav has painted a wide variety of famous (and not so famous) Americans in ways that are both evocative and sometimes provocative. Students were able to learn from the exhibit curator Amy Kurtz Lansing, who took APUSH herself when she was in high school. Additionally, students were treated to a tour of the original Florence Griswold house, which captures what it was like in Old Lyme in 1910, when the Lyme Art Colony was at its peak.
