Rotary Students of the MonthLyme-Old Lyme High School is honored and proud to congratulate two scholars as the selected Rotary Club Students of the Month Award Recipients thus far this year. The Rotary Club recognizes a student from three area schools each month: Old Saybrook, Westbrook and Lyme-Old Lyme. Each month a predetermined department selects a student who best exemplifies the respective discipline. Also taken into consideration is how a student might embody the core beliefs of the Rotarian: community before self. Once selected, these students are invited to Old Saybrook Point Inn on a Wednesday morning to enjoy a celebratory breakfast with their families. Students are introduced to the audience by a department representative and given an opportunity to talk a little about what plans they have for their future. It is such a special event. In October Natalie Rugg was honored for her work and accomplishments in English over the past four years. She has excelled not only as a student of English but as well as and accomplished writer in our school evidenced by the newly redesigned digital school newspaper of which she is editor-in-chief (see link on right side bar). She hopes to continue her studies of English at UCONN next year in the honor program. Laura Lee Wayland was the November Student of the Month recipient for her success in Math. Along with excelling in several advanced math courses, Laura Lee is part of the Mathletes Varsity Team which continues to rank #1 in their division and is part of the Robotics team. She hopes to study Engineering in college as well as continue to participate in Irish dance competitions, which she has been doing since first grade! |
