Guest Speaker: Conner Wyman
 
Conner Wyman presented to the Spanish Honor Society about his trip over the summer to Cali, Colombia. While in Colombia, Conner participated in a weeklong conference analyzing the successes/failures of the recent peace agreement between the The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Colombian Government that ended a decades long civil war. The presentation focused on the lasting effects of this war, the outcomes of the conference, and what life is like in Colombia.

I presented about my study abroad in Alicante, Spain with the CIEE program. I stayed with a host family who lived close to the beach for four weeks in the city. I learned about the Spanish culture through activities – such as museums, dancing lessons, and cooking classes – which helped me become more aware of the Spanish language. We did weekend trips to the mountains and Madrid, which helped cultivate our understanding of the Spanish way of life and how it differed from typical American culture. Overall, I had an amazing experience and highly recommend CIEE - which has programs in France, China, Germany, Mexico, the Netherland, and dozens of more locations.
