This past weekend, March 8-10, the High School Robotics team attended a robotics competition in Waterbury, Connecticut. Although the team did not bring home any trophies, they had a successful weekend full of learning experiences. During the weekend, the team competed in over a dozen matches where they had to work together with different teams to place disks and shoot balls in a space themed game. The drive team consisted of several students from Old Lyme including Emily Speckhals, Ted Wayland, Nick Fava, and Sarah Hayward. These students had the responsibility of controlling what the robot did during each of the matches. Many other students also helped out with scouting matches in order to gather data on their opponents’ robots. Since January 5th, the robotics team has been working hard on their robot and this was the first event that they attended. During the next few weeks, the Techno Ticks will make improvements to their robot and plan for their next competition in Hartford from April 5-7. Soon thereafter, the team will attend the national competition in Detroit from April 24-28 as a member of the Robotics Hall of Fame.
Good Luck Ticks! Comments are closed.
