October promises to be a very exciting month. There is so much going on both academically and socially all with the objective to make our school community a supportive, fun and positive environment. We have events planned to help students be more successful as well as be more involved and PRESENT!
Academically, we begin this week with our Academic Letter Ceremony on Thursday. Next week, on October 19, we have PSAT testing for all 9th, 10th and 11th graders - Seniors will be coming in late, lucky ducks! On October 26, all juniors will be participating in the first of a series of SAT prep classes for 2 hours. During these sessions, students will be learning various strategies for the revised SAT tests.
On a more social note, in an effort for students and teachers to get to know each other better, we will be revisiting our EAT with a TEACH program this Friday - a program we began last May. Teachers and students will eat together during the lunch waves ... a novel idea, one that came from the students! The last week of October we will have our first Spirit week of the year! Each day classes will dress in the assigned "garb" which have been established by our Student Leaders. The finale of the month: a Pep Rally on Friday 10/28 followed by our Homecoming dance that evening... As you can see, October is chalked full!
