Visible and Invisible Women:
On Monday, March 13th, the Spanish AP class explored the similarities and differences that young women are facing in the 21th century when leaving their homes in the US and in other countries of Central America. Students examined and discussed photos of girls who have gone missing while crossing the border between the USA and Mexico. They also watched a video to learn about issues that young women face when living on college campuses in the United States. The class began when students arrived to find pairs of red shoes displayed around the classroom. By the end of the class, students had learned that the display of shoes was inspired by a Mexican artist who is bringing awareness of these issues to people around the world.
